AbstrakABSTRAK INDONESIA : Tidak ada ABSTRAK INGGRIS : YULIANTO PARULIAN. Analysis of economic potential sectors in Nusa Tenggara Timur : an Analysis of Efficiency Rate and Inter-sector Reliance. Under direction of BONAR M. SINAGA and TONY IRAWAN. Various programs and policies in the process of accelerating economic growth in the province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) have been attempted, but the economy of this province still lags behind other provinces. In the process of regional development planning, identification and analysis of economic potential sectors in a region is an important thing done before taking a policy for regional development. Therefore, the research was aimed to identify the economy potential sectors in NTT and measure the rate of efficiency and reliance of potential sectors. The result analysis using the location quotient (LQ) method and analysis of input-output (I-O) Tables show that sectors which categorize as a potential sectors and has a important large role in the economy NTT during 2004 until the year 2008 are farm food crops; farm non food crops; livestock, food, beverages, and tobacco industries: textile, leather products, and footwear industries; construction; wholesale and retail trade; transportation; government services; social services; entertainment and recreation services. To develop these potential sectors, policy maker should consider the relative efficiency, the relative degree of reliance on demands, and the relative degree of reliance on inputs each such potential sectors. The result of applying the DEA method to I-O Tables of NTT for the year of 2006, show that the potential sectors which relatively efficient are farm food crops; farm non food crops; livestock; food, beverages, and tobacco industries; textile, leather products, and footwear industries; wholesale and retail trade; and government services sectors. Based on a comparison between the relative degree of reliance on intermediate and final demand, show that sectors which rely mainly on intermediate demand are farm food crops; farm non food crops; livestock; food, beverages, and tobacco industries; textile, leather products, and footwear industries; construction; wholesale and retail trade; transportation; social services; entertainment and recreation services. For the relative degree of reliance on inputs, the result show that the contruction sector and textile, leather products, and footwear industries in NTT, which rely mainly on imports.
